TRESTLES OF THE OVERPASS ON THE NINETH SECTION OF THE SOUTH-EASTERN CHORD COMPLETED
The construction of the trestles on the overpass on the main road of the South-Eastern chord on the intersection with the railway lines of Kursky suburban route of Moscow Railway within the section from Paveletsky suburban route of Moscow railway up to Moscow Automobile Circle Road (MKAD) has been completed. The project of the section of the chord was developed by the engineers of Mosproekt-3, the company which forms a part of the so named Group of companies.
“The South-Eastern chord is one of the most significant transport projects of Moscow”. The new highway is going to connect 22 Moscow districts, where the number of residents account for 2,5 million. The nineth section of the highway from Paveletsky route of Moscow railway to MKAD, in particular, will increase the traffic convenience of Biryulyovo Zapadnoye district in the south of Moscow,” – Andrey Bochkarev, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban planning and construction.
According to the head of Moscow Complex of Urban Planning Policy and Construction, the overall length of the roads withing the nineth section of South-Eastern chord will total 11,2 km. Meanwhile, the adjacent street-road network takes approximately a half. Furthermore, three transport structures are going to emerge in this section: 1,2-kilometre long overpass, 46-metre long tunnel and 300-metre overpass.
To avoid the restrictions for the railway traffic during the construction of the main road overpass, the engineers of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3 decided to apply the method of incremental launching.
“To optimize the construction our experts applied various techniques towards the parts of the engineering structure. In the section where topography and density of the development is of low degree complexity, the span construction consists of reinforced concrete pre-strained beams. For the spans that cover railway lines, we used metal structures and orthotropic deck. The third section has a complex geometry, that is why we chose reinforced concrete ribbed plates due to the span’s location, as it is located both at the entrance and exit roads of the South-Eastern Chord main road,” – Anna Merkulova, CEO of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3.
The total length of the new highway is going to extend 96 km, comprising 55 transport structures (tunnels, bridges, overpasses) that will be constructed in within. The launch of the South-Eastern chord will certainly improve the road situation in the sector between Shosse Entuziastov and Varshavskoye shosse, ultimately connecting the largest highways of Moscow.
