SPAN STRUCTURE IS ASSEMBLED ON NORTH-EASTERN CHORD OVERPASS NEAR “OKRUZHNAYA” STATION
The constructors have completed the launching of the steelwork of the span structure of the North-Eastern Chord overpass in the area of the MCC “Okruzhnaya” Station. The Chord section was designed and engineered by the engineers of the Mosproekt-3 Company, which is part of the same name holding.
“The slips are being dismantled at the moment. Launching works continue on two more sections of the overpass,” said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction.
The pverpass’s length is going to take 2382 meters. It crosses the section of the Oktyabrskaya Railway, a connecting railway line, the Dmitrovskoye shosse and the Savyolovsky suburban railway line. There are three lanes in each direction on the overpass.
In other sections of the overpass there are operational works on assembling the metal structures, concreting the roadway and damping-proofing.
Rafik Zagrutdinov, the head of Moscow Construction Department said: “It is planned to construct 17.9 km of roads in the section of the North-Eastern Chord from Yaroslavskoye to Dmitrovskoye shosse, including three main overpasses and two exit overpasses with the total length of over 5 km. The reconstruction of the bridge over the Yauza River and the construction of three bridges over the Likhoborka River are also planned”.
According to Anna Merkulova, CEO of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3, the finishing stages of the North-East Chords are complicated by the abundance of railway infrastructure. The engineers of “Mosproekt-3” applied various technologies to lay the main line without interrupting the traffic on the MCC ranging different technologies regarding the launching method during the “technological windows” to temporary reconstruction of tracks.
