GC MOSPROEKT-3 – FIRST CONTRACTOR OF A METRO PROJECT IMPLEMENTED WITHIN “INFRASTRUCTURE MENU” PROGRAMME

The Group of Companies Mosproekt-3 has been chosen as the contracting entity to extend the Avtozavodskaya line of the Nizhny Novgorod metro from Gorkovskaya station to Sennaya station. Thus, the Group of Companies has become the first contractor implementing a metro project within the “infrastructure menu” programme developed in the federal government and approved by the president of the country.

“The new project is going to improve significantly the traffic convenience of the highland part of the city, taking into account the traffic capacity of the streets in the historic center of the city. The funding of the project is provided among others at the expense of the “infrastructure menu”. Nizhegorodskaya oblast has been one of the first regions to form an offer of the participation in the program of the infrastructure publicly funded loans. The extension of the metro is the necessity for further development of the city,” – Gleb Nikitin, the governor of Nizhegorodskaya oblast, said.

In total, two close-to-surface stations are expected to be constructed in the new three-kilometre long section. The engineers of the Group of Companies are to design and engineer two alternative routes for the future section of the metro line with the mid-course stations Operny Teatr and Ploshchad Svobody.

“The extension of the Avtozavodskaya line is intended to be implemented in the conditions of a densely developed urban area with abundant underground utility systems. The customer has also set the task of mitigating the effect of the construction works on the ground transport. Our experts will suggest the detailed engineering solutions once the design and survey operations have been complete,” – Anna Merkulova, CEO of The Group of Companies Mosproekt-3, said.

Anna Merkulova clarified that the experts of the GC Mosproekt-3 have got all the required competencies concerning the creation of up-to-date rapid transit systems. In the Moscow metro over 80 km of lines along with 31 metro stations have been constructed with the immediate involvement of the engineers of the Group of Companies. For instance, deep-laying stations in yielding soil, sub-surface stations within the megapolis, as well as the unique ground-level metro line running along the highway in a unified transport structure.
