A UNIQUE DIGITAL MODEL OF GC MOSPROEKT-3 OBJECT IS PRESENTED TO THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR ENGINEERING GEOLOGY
The engineers of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3 presented the results of their research on the up-to-date issue of karst phenomena in the infrastructure construction to the international professional community. The experts of the Group of Companies also shared their expertise regarding designing and engineering the section of the transcontinental route “Europe – Western China” in Athens at the European Regional conference of the International Association for Engineering Geology (IAEG).
While developing the project of the future freeway M-12, in Nizhegorodskaya oblast the experts of the Group of companies happened to come across with the landscapes that are typical for karst processes. Regardless of the fact that the phenomenon is fairly common for the world practice and can lead to disastrous consequences, the professional community does not have definite technological solutions to smooth the problem.
“The team of engineers, with the international experts as well, conducted large-scale research. It covered the analysis of historic data, hydrogeological exploration, digital aerial photography survey, the study of satellite images by means of interferometric method, etc. The computer analysis of the data set enabled to define how active the karst processes are. On the basis of the information obtained, the team managed to create a mathematical model of risk of new phenomena emergence”, – Anna Merkulova, CEO of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3.
The top manager of the Group of companies stated that the results of the research specified the actions against karst processes that were included into the project of the highway. They guarantee safe construction work and further operation of the object.
The team of GC Mosproekt-3 carries on their work to update the sections of the engineering geological model that appeared to become unique for Russian infrastructure projects.
As a reminder, GC Mosproekt-3 performs design & engineering and contracted works at the 5th stage of the freeway “Moscow – Nizhny Novgorod – Kazan” with the length of 107 km. 57 engineering structures, including 41 flyovers and 7 bridges are going to be constructed in the section. The freeway will join the international transport route and will certainly produce an essential macroeconomic effect for a number of subjects of the Russian Federation. As assigned by the President of the country, Vladimir Putin, the route is decided to be extended into Ekaterinburg, where there are the engineers of the Group of Companies engaged, and further on into Chelyabinsk and Tyumen.
