GC Mosproekt-3 is winner of best greenspace amenities award
The concept of the Marc Chagall waterfront within the former ZIL industrial area was acknowledged as the best project on the natural areas and greenspace complex development in Moscow. The waterfront development programme was designed and engineered by the experts of Mosproekt-3, the company that forms a part of the so named Group of companies.
The project involves the creation of 4 lines, that include cafes and cultural event spaces, running tracks and bike lanes of almost 4 km long, gardens and alleys for strolls as well as the route along the river with downward ramps to the water.
Anna Merkulova, CEO of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3, said that the waterfront would become a part of the “green belt” formed by ZIL parks and would be integrated into the infrastructure complex of the new comfortable block.
“The area of the project was mainly characterized by the terrain with anthropogenic non packed soils, that is why the experts of the Group of companies were expected to create a multi-purpose landscape practically from grassroot. A number of engineering solutions were introduced to form a convenient urban environment, including the hills with the planted trees and bushes to protect visitors from the wind blowing from the river. While designing the waterfront, the engineers also followed the principles of inclusivity. The infrastructure of the facility was developed with due regard to the requirements for the access by people with limited mobility,” – Anna Merkulova added.
The contest of projects is held annually by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Moscow. The event is aimed at assisting to solve the issues of preservation, restoration and development of the natural areas and green spaces of Moscow. Apart from that, the contest rewards the designing and engineering organizations as well as the representatives of the sector-specific universities and colleges that have essentially contributed into the development of natural areas and green spaces.
