TECHNICAL LAUNCH OF BIG CIRCLE LINE SOUTH-WESTERN SECTION WAS CARRIED OUT IN MOSCOW
Sergei Sobyanin, the Mayor Moscow, carried out a technical launch of the new section of the Big Circle Line, which includes Aminievskaya, Michurinsky Prospekt and Prospekt Vernadskogo Station. The project of the Big Circle line south-western section was designed by Mospromproekt JSC, a member of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3.
“The construction of the three stations of the Big Circle Line is completed. We have launched the western section. In the near future we are going to carry out a technical launch of the southern section and thus launch western, south-western and southern sections with about 10 stations simultaneously”, – said Sergei Sobyanin.
Andrey Bochkarev, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction, stressed that for the south-western section for the first time in the history of Moscow Metro parametrical architectural style was chosen. All three stations have unique architectural appearance and design. The Group of Companies Mosproekt-3 architects developed an unusual complex geometry by a complicated mathematical calculation method in the software suite.
“Parameterization is a new mathematics: classic geometric figures and lines are now replaced by dynamic elements made by means of 3D-modelling. For example, pixel ceiling at Prospekt Vernandskogo Station, which imitates outer space, was designed by random-number method. At Michurinsky Prospekt Station, ceiling with a multiple ornament in the form of petals and characters was also made by a parametrical method. Tunnel walls of Aminievskaya Station, which is located between the Ramenka and Setun Rivers, are decorated with pixel sinusoids of cool shades which symbolize water waves”, – Anna Merkulova, CEO of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3, commented on some architectural features of the new section of the Big Circle Line.
The Big Circle Line is the largest project in the history of Moscow Metro and even one of the largest metro construction projects in the world. 70 km long line will connect 31 stations and will reduce transport load on the Circle Line and the stations inside the Circle.
