HALF OF TRESTLES FOR SOUTH-EASTERN CHORD OVERPASS OVER VOLGOGRADSKY PROSPEKT IS COMPLETED
The main route overpass trestles in the South-Eastern Chord section from Grayvoronvskaya Ulitsa to Shosseynaya Ulitsa are 50% complete. The project of the structure was developed by “Mosproekt-3”, the company which forms a part of the so named Group of Companies.
“The constructors continue the preparation for the span launching and bridge road concreting. To minimize the effect on Volgogradsky Prospekt, one of the busiest outbound highways of Moscow, the engineers decided to construct the span structures by applying incremental launching method. That means that metal structures will be assembled nearby and then will be brought into the designed and engineered position by adjustable jacks,” – said Andrey Bochkarev, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.
Due to the lack of space and numerous utility systems in the site area, the experts of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3 had to develop an individual approach to each trestle of the chord interchange with Volgogradsky Prospekt.
“Engineering structures have two intersections with the Kursky Suburban Railway Line; they also have intersections with the tunnels of Big Circle Line under construction and the operating Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya Metro Line. In order to diminish the noise and vibrational effect, we used bored pile foundation. The diameter of each pile was chosen depending on the specific situation. For instance, in some cases we used piles, which were up to 2 m in diameter,” – explained Anna Merkulova, CEO of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3.
According to Anna Merkulova, this approach enabled to decrease the number of piles and make the foundation more compact, having integrated the trestles into the underground space full of utility systems.
The section from Grayvoronvskaya Ulitsa to Shosseynaya Ulitsa will improve the transport service for Pechatniki and Tekstilshchiki Districts, reduce the traffic load on the interchange at the intersection of the Third Transport Circle and Volgogradsky Prospekt, and provide comfortable access to the residential development, social and cultural facilities.
