TECHNICAL LAUNCH OF BIG CIRCLE LINE SOUTHERN SECTION WAS CARRIED OUT IN MOSCOW

Sergei Sobyanin, the Mayor Moscow, carried out a technical launch of the new section of the Big Circle Line, which includes four new stations: Novatorskaya, Vorontsovskaya, Zyuzino and Kahovskaya Station. The section from Novatorskaya to Zyuzino Station was designed by Mospromproekt JSC, a member of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3.

“Over the last two weeks, we have opened six stations of the Big Circle Line. Today, four more stations have been put into a trial operation. We have already started testing and commissioning of the section. I hope, it will soon be opened for passengers. The simultaneous opening of 10 stations is a unique case in the history of Moscow Metro construction”, – said Sergei Sobyanin.

Andrey Bochkarev, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction, noted that for the decoration of the Big Circle Line southern section architects used some unique materials: for example, quartz agglomerate, an artificial stone, was used for the first time. Furthermore, The Group of companies Mosproekt-3 experts found new ways to use natural stone.

“For the station hall and escalator inclined tunnel’s walls, we have chosen Polotsky white marble from Russia, because it is resistant to external influence and due to the low iron content level stays white for a long time. The ceiling of Novatorskaya Station is made of triplex panels with color filters, which create intense orange color that symbolizes energy of innovations.  At Zyuzino Station, complex rhythmic pattern of the ceiling contrasts with a simple pattern of the station floor made of nonstandard finishing material – black gabbro-diabase. To achieve a glare effect, architects used stone with golden mica inclusions”, – Anna Merkulova, CEO of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3, commented on some architectural features of the new section of the Big Circle Line.

Novatorskaya, Vorontsovskaya, Zyuzino and Kahovskaya Station are planned to be opened for passengers by the end of the year within the Big Circle Line section from Mnevniki to Kahovskaya Station. Total length of the section is about 20 km. The section includes 10 stations.
