SOUTH-EASTERN CHORD SECTION FROM PAVELETSKY SUBURBAN RAILWAY LINE TO MKAD WILL HAVE BEEN COMPLETED BY 2023

The South-Eastern Chord section from Paveletsky Suburban Railway Line to Moscow Automobile Circle Road (MKAD) is 36% complete. The project was developed by “Mosproekt-3”, the company which forms a part of the so named Group of companies.

“The lack of transport infrastructure is one of the main challenges, which we are solving by creating a new transport network consisting of four chords. North-Western Chord is completed. South Rocade and North-Eastern Chord are two-thirds complete. The last one is South-Western Chord, a large-scale construction project, which will improve the transport service for 22 districts of Moscow with the population of over 2 million people. The construction is carried out in all sections”, – said Sergei Sobyanin, the Mayor of Moscow, during his visit to the site.

Within the South-Eastern Chord section it is planned to construct over 11 km of roads, two overpasses and a tunnel under the railway lines, it is also planned to reconstruct several passages and exit-roads. “The section is planned to be completed by 2023”, – highlighted Andrey Bochkarev, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.

As Anna Merkulova, CEO of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3, has previously mentioned, the project implied some technical solutions, which enabled to avoid train traffic interruption during the construction period.

Alexander Shumilov, Director of Road Planning and Design Department in The Group of companies Mosproekt-3, in the expert comment to “Moskva 24” TV channel explained some design features of artificial structures of the Chord.
