THE LONGEST OVERPASS OF THE NORTH-EASTERN CHORD IS 70% COMPLETE
The longest overpass of the North-eastern Chord is 70% complete. The facility was designed by Mosproekt-3 JSC, which is a member of the samenamed Group of Companies.
“The 2,4 km long overpass is now being constructed on the exit road from the existing section of the North-Eastern Chord to Altufyevskoye Highway. We are starting another launching of span metal structures over the Oktyabrskaya Suburban Railway Line and along the Moscow Central Circle line“, – said Andrey Bochkarev, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.
On the one section, the overpass crosses the Moscow Central Circle lines. According to Andrey Bochkarev, during the construction The Group of Companies Mosproekt-3 specialists applied the safest and the most appropriate technology in order not to interrupt train traffic.
“The 500 m section comes over the Moscow Central Circle line. Trains from the tracks one and two were replaced by temporary ones, so construction works were conducted at the required safety level. At the same time, the track three continued being operating, and train schedule didn’t change. The specialists came up with two methods of span installation – launching and by using cranes”, – said Anna Merkulova, The Group of Companies Mosproekt-3 CEO.
Today the North-Eastern Chord is 80% complete, construction works are conducted at three of nine sections. According to the plan, construction works will be over by 2022.
