BIG CIRCLE LINE SOUTHERN SECTION IS 90% COMPLETE

The Big Circle Line southern section, which includes Novatorskaya, Vorontsovskaya and Zyuzino Station, is almost 90% complete. The structure was designed and engineered by “Mospromroekt”, the company which forms a part of the so named Group of Companies Mosproekt-3.

“Today the main structures of both stations and underground structures have already been completed. Works on equipping the stations with environmental control system and train traffic control system are underway, the finishing works are also carried out”, – said Andrey Bochkarev, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.

The Head of Moscow ComThe Head of Moscow Complex for Urban Planning and Construction added that at Vorontsovskaya Station there have been completed works on the unique hung ceiling installation. The experts of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3 used 3D-modelling technologies while working on the ceiling design. For the station’s finishing, there have been used some nonstandard finishing materials, which have never been used within Moscow Metro construction.

“For the station hall and escalator inclined tunnel’s walls, we’ve chosen Polotsky white marble from Russian quarries. It is a durable material, which is resistant to external influence. Due to the low iron content level, the material stays white for a long time”, – highlighted Anna Merkulova, CEO of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3.

The Big Circle Line is the largest project in the history of Moscow Metro and even one of the largest metro construction projects in the world. 70 km long line will connect 31 stations and will reduce transport load on the Circle Line and the stations inside the Circle.
