NORTH-EASTERN AND NORTH-WESTERN CHORDS CONNECTION IS OPEN
Sergei Sobyanin, the Mayor of Moscow, has launched the traffic on the road connection of North-Eastern and North-Western chords. Engineering structures are built in the section of North-Eastern chord between Yaroslavskoye and Dmitrovskoye shosse, the project of which was designed and engineered by the engineers of Mosproekt-3, the company that forms a part of the so named Group of companies.
“We keep on working to create chord connection in Moscow. The largest project, North-Eastern chord, that has been already 80% complete. Today we are launching the section of high importance, the connection between North-Western and North-Eastern chords. It is an ultimately essential section that is going to load off the current route and to connect these two huge highways”, – Sergei Sobyanin, the Mayor of Moscow, stated at the official ceremony.
The Mayor added that the new section, within which 8,1 km of roads had been constructed, was laid in complicated conditions: within the section two bridges over Likhoborka river and two flyovers over the railway line had been constructed. The operational works were carried out in the area of concentration of a large number of utilities and intercrossing transport infrastructure.
According to Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction, the tie-up of two chord highways will enable to create appropriate transport route between the eastern and western parts of the city, as well as to provide a more balanced vehicle traffic. Transport maintenance of over 730k residents of eight residential districts is going to improve.
Besides, for the new residential area, that is being constructed in the north-east of Moscow, the experts of the GC Mosproekt-3 designed and engineered an off-street pedestrian crossing to the Major Botanic Garden of Russian Academy of Sciences.
“The stair approach, located at the trestles of the first bridge, is covered to protect against precipitation. Next, the underground pedestrian gallery with the relevant technical premises runs through the body of the bridge structures and is connected to the walking network of this huge park complex”, – Anna Merkulova, CEO of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3.
Inside the project of the engineering structures the experts of the Group of companies laid all the required security actions schemes for the safe construction within the water area of the Likhoborka river.
As a reminder, the length of the direct course of North-Eastern chord is going to take 40 km, including the ramps and reconstruction of the surrounding street-road network – approximately 120km. The highway is going to connect 26 districts, to provide the drive to 12 transport hubs, 21 stations of Metro and Moscow Central Circle, as well as to platforms Moscow Central Diameter-1 and progressive Moscow Central Diameter-3. About 2/3 of the entire North-Eastern chord is designed and engineered by The Group of companies Mosproekt-3.
