LAUNCHING OF THE CENTRAL SPAN OF THE BRIDGE ON ZIL WILL BE STARTED IN 2021

The superstructures of the bridge across the Moscow River, which will connect the complex development territories named ZIL, will be started to build this year. The bridge project was developed by Mosproekt-3 JSC, which is part of the same name holding.

“The new bridge will increase transport accessibility of the territory of the former industrial zone ZIL, which we actively develop together with investors. The engineering structure, which is nearly half a kilometer long, will be linked to the road network of residential zones under construction,” Andrey Bochkarev, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction, said.

The central span structure of the bridge will be erected by the method of launching, using a 60 metre long launching nose. In this way it will be possible to avoid restrictions on navigation of vessels on the Moscow River.

“The main span of the bridge, under which the navigation will take place, is designed from metal structures with an orthotropic plate of the carriageway. The use of metal structures made it possible to provide the necessary dimensions for the passage of vessels. The superstructures of approaches are designed from reinforced concrete beams combined into temperature-continuous span,” Anna Merkulova, The Group of Companies Mosproekt-3 CEO, said.

A new mixed building types district is being built on the site of the former territory of the ZIL Plant.

There is already built a giant school for 2500 pupils on ZIL territory, other social infrastructure facilities are planned. A transport network is been actively developing in the new district: the station of the same name of the Moscow Central Circle and the central highway – Likhachev Prospect, have already been built. In the future, a bridge will be built over the Novinki Backewater, which will connect the area with Andropova Prospect, and will be extended to the area of Simonovskaya Embankment, on which it will be possible to reach the city centre. ZIL Platform will be connected with the new Birulievskaya Line, which will have a transfer at the Big Circle Line.
