M-12 HIGHWAY PROJECT DEVELOPMENT DISCUSSED AT “TRANSPORT OF RUSSIA” FORUM

The main route of the M-12 highway from Moscow to Kazan is sceduled to be launched in 2023. The design and enThe main route of the M-12 highway from Moscow to Kazan is expected to become operational in 2023.  The designing process of the section to Ekaterinburg is underway; the future project of extension of the highway to Chelyabinsk is being prepared. The progress of the highway project that is going to become a part of the international route “Western Europe – Western China” became a topic of the discussion at the “Transport of Russia” forum. The engineers of the GC Mosproekt-3, the company that forms a part of the so named Group of companies, are engaged in the current construction of an M-12 section in the Nizhny Novgorod Region and development of the highway route running through the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Perm territory and the Sverdlovsk Region.gineering work of the section to Ekaterinburg is in progress, the advanced project of the extension of the road to Chelyabinsk is being developed, as well. The progress of the implementation of project of the highway that is going to become a part of the international transportation route “Western Europe – Western China” was discussed at the “Transport of Russia” forum. The engineers of Mosproekt-3, the company which forms a part of the so named Group of Companies, implement the construction of the section of M-12 in Nizhegorodskaya oblast and develop the route of the highway through the Republic of Bashkortostan, Perm krai and Sverdlovskaya oblast.

The experts of the Group of companies are gradually accomplishing the preliminary works and are launching the construction and assembling operations at the M-12 section in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. 12 engineering structures are going to be built in the complicated geological conditions of the area. In the near future the Group of companies Mosproekt-3 will put into operation an up-to-date asphalt-concrete plant with the capacity of 4 thousand tons a day. The output of the production complex is likely to provide with the covering of high quality not only the Mosproekt-3 section, but other sections as well.

In the long-range section of M-12 between Dyurtyuli and Achit the engineering survey activities for the primary design of the area have been completed.

“To be able to assess the geological conditions of the future route, we have drilled approximately 10 thousand linear meters of bores. Our experts encountered complicated geological conditions, including agglomerations of karst rocks represented by gypsum and anhydrites. Having gained the required information, we were able to update the route of the future highway as well as bypass the clusters of karst surface processes,” – said Anna Merkulova, CEO, the GC Mosproekt-3.

The head of the Group of companies stressed that to implement infrastructure projects in Russia, the team of the GC Mosproekt-3 had gained the unique technological expertise in effective reduction of the ill effect of the complicated geological conditions.

“In particular, to find a solution to the problem of karst deformation we conducted a series of educational workshops with Russian, European and North American scientists, and also developed a unique geotechnical model of the hazard of karst phenomena emergence. We shared our experience with the International Association for Engineering Geology (IAEG) at the latest conference in Athens,” – said Anna Merkulova.
