CONSTRUCTION OF FIVE FLYOVERS IS CARRIED OUT AS PART OF THE INTERCHANGE AT THE INTERSECTION OF THE SOUTH-EASTERN HORDE AND THE VOLGOGRADSKY PROSPECT

Five flyovers are under construction as part of the project for reconstruction of the traffic interchange at the intersection of the South-Eastern Horde and Volgogradsky Prospect. The flyovers project is designed by the engineers of the Mosproekt-3 Company, which is part of the same name holding.

“Five flyovers are under construction as part of the project for reconstruction of the traffic interchange at the intersection of the South-Eastern Horde and Volgogradsky Prospect. There are 29 out of 44 poles have been erected on the main flyover of the South-Eastern Horde from Graivronovskaya Street to Shosseinaya Street section, that is around 1.5 km,” Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction, said.

According to the Head of the Department of Urban Development Policy and Construction of the city of Moscow (so called Stroicomplex), there are 7 out of 16 flyover supports have been erected, and 290 tons of metal structures of the superstructure have been mounted on the other flyover, which is 552 m long, located at the South-Eastern Horde – Volgogradsky Prospect left-turn exit in the Moscow region direction.

Mr. Bochkarev also added that 10 out 15 flyover supports have been erected as part of the project for construction of the left-turn exit from Volgogradsky Prospect on the main track of the South-Eastern Horde in the Kashirskoe Highway direction; there are 3 out of 4 flyover supports have been erected at the Volgogradsky Prospect – South-Eastern Horde left-turn exit in the Riazansky Prospect direction; there are 5 out of 10 flyover supports have been erected at the South-Eastern Horde – the Riazansky Prospect main exit in the Moscow Automobile Ring Road direction.

In order to minimise the impact on motor traffic on one of the busiest highways of the capital – Volgogradsky Prospect, the specialists of  Group of Companies Mosproekt-3 used constructions of different types.

“The superstructures which are directly above Volgogradsky Prospect are steel-concrete. Steel-concrete construction makes it possible to mount the overhead structure with cranes using a minimum number of temporary supports. Beams are used in places where conditions and topography are uncomfortable. These beams are manufactured at the factory and delivered to the construction site in a ready-made form. Thus, we managed to minimise the number of construction equipment in the area of intensive traffic flow and significantly shorten the duration of the project,” Anna Merkulova, General Director of Group of Companies Mosproekt-3, said.

Anna Merkulova added that structural design have also been applied to flyover supports. The flyover, which completely covers the road under construction adjacent to Shosseinaya Street, is built on two-pillar supports. The rest of the exits will be built on single-pillar supports in order to visually harmonise the construction into the city environment.
