CONSTRUCTION OF FIVE OVERPASSES IS CARRIED OUT AS PART OF THE INTERCHANGE AT THE INTERSECTION OF THE SOUTH-EASTERN CHORD AND VOLGOGRADSKY PROSPEKT

Five overpasses are under construction as a part of the project of reconstruction of the traffic interchange at the intersection of the South-Eastern chord and Volgogradsky Prospekt. The project of the structure is developed by the engineers of “Mosproekt-3”, the company which forms a part of the so named Group of Companies.

“At present five overpasses are under construction as a part of the project of reconstruction of the traffic interchange at the intersection of the South-Eastern chord and Volgogradsky Prospekt. 29 out of 44 trestles have been constructed on the main overpass of the South-Eastern Chord from Grayvoronovskaya Street to Shosseynaya Street section, that is approximately 1.5 km,” said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction..

According to the Head of the Department of Urban Development Policy and Construction of Moscow, 7 overpass’s trestles out of 16 have been constructed, and 290 tons of metal structures of the span structures have been assembled, the 552 m long overpass is located in the South-Eastern Chord, Volgogradsky Prospekt left-turn exit road in the Moscow region direction.

Andrey Bochkarev also added that 10 out 15 trestles were constructed as a part of the project of construction of the left-turn exit from Volgogradsky Prospekt to the main track of the South-Eastern chord in Kashirskoe shosse direction; there were 3 out of 4 overpasses trestles assembled in Volgogradsky Prospekt, South-Eastern chord left-turn exit in Riazansky Prospekt direction; 5 out of 10 trestles have were assembled in the South-Eastern chord, Riazansky Prospekt main exit in Moscow Circle Automobile Road direction.

In order to minimize the effect on the vehicle traffic in one of the busiest highways of Moscow, Volgogradsky Prospekt, the experts of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3 applied the structures of different types.

The spans which are immediately above Volgogradsky Prospekt are designed and engineered from the steel reinforced concrete. Such a structure enables to construct the overhead structure with cranes using a minimum number of temporary trestles. The beams are used in the places where the conditions and topography are fairly challenging. These beams are manufactured in the plant and delivered to the construction site in the complete form. Thus, we managed to minimize the number of construction equipment in the area of the intensive traffic flow as well as significantly shorten the deadline of the project,” said Anna Merkulova, CEO of The Group of companies Mosproekt-3.

Anna Merkulova added that constructive solutions have been applied for the trestles as well. The overpass, which entirely covers the road under construction that is adjacent to Shosseynaya Street, is being constructed on the two-pillar trestles. The rest of the exits will be built on single-pillar trestles in order to fit the construction into the city environment in the most balanced way.
